My first computer was a Commodore 64, then a TRS80, then a Tandy 1000. (Ah, to have been the child of a longtime Radio Shack manager).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" style=\"border-style: initial; border-color: initial; float: right; border-width: 0px;\" src=\"http:\/\/images.apple.com\/macbookpro\/images\/overview_gallery1_20110720.png#gallery2\" alt=\"\" width=\"212\" height=\"116\" \/><\/p>\n<p>2. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.literatureandlatte.com\/scrivener.php\">Scrivener 2.2<\/a><\/strong>. I normally write my manuscripts in Microsoft Word, but I&#8217;m taking the plunge with Scrivener on this one. I&#8217;ll report back after my editor sees the manu for the first time. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>3. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dovechocolate.com\/product\/listing?c_id=2\">Dove Promises &#8211; Milk Chocolate with Almond<\/a>.<\/strong> These things may not qualify as fancy, designer chocolate, but OMG are they good. Dove makes a fine bit of silky-smooth chocolate, and a couple of Promises are my snack every day. I&#8217;m not sure if it makes my writing any better, but I do think Merit would approve.<\/p>\n<p>4. <strong>Paper<\/strong>. Although I draft on my laptop, I use <a href=\"http:\/\/www.levenger.com\/PAGETEMPLATES\/NAVIGATION\/Products.asp?Params=category=16|level=2|pageid=2391\">3&#215;5 index cards<\/a> and a notebook (currently a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.creativesoutfitter.com\/product\/17\/action-book\">Behance Action Book<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>5. <strong>Pens<\/strong>. I am a sucker for a good pen, and love my <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jetpens.com\/Kaweco-Fountain-Pens\/ct\/727\">Kaweco Fountain Pen<\/a> (which has disappeared somewhere in my house). Although I&#8217;m not much for ballpoints, I am digging the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greerchicago.com\/shop\/?act=product&amp;product=2892&amp;color=0&amp;page=1\">Caran d&#8217;Ache ballpoints<\/a>\u00a0I purchased during my last visit to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.greerchicago.com\/shop\/\">Greer Chicago<\/a>, one of my favorite stores in Chicagoland.<\/p>\n<p>6. <strong>Dry Erase Board<\/strong>: I keep a running list of plot ideas on a dry erase board that hangs in my office.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I thought I&#8217;d review the tools I use every evening to write the Chicagoland Vampires and Dark Elite novels, including HOUSE RULES, which is currently under construction. 1.
