1. Reading tons of nonfiction<\/strong>, including THE LOST CITY OF Z<\/a> by David Grann and RIVER OF DOUBT<\/a> by Candace Millard. I am definitely on an Amazon River exploration kick!<\/p>\n

2. Training for my first run<\/strong>, the Chicago Hot Chocolate 5K<\/a> in November with the lovely and talented Christina Henry<\/a>.<\/p>\n

3. Watching reruns of 30Rock<\/strong> and anxiously awaiting the final season. LOVE Tina Fey! (Photo credit: Unknown. Let me know if it’s yours!)<\/p>\n

4. Watching Project Runway<\/a><\/strong>, my favorite treadmill activity. I don’t yet see a clear winner. Do you?<\/p>\n

5. Making Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies<\/a><\/strong>, which are now my favorite recipe, although Hubs prefers something closer to these<\/a>. (Either way, I’m definitely a fan of recipes that call for melting the butter first; I find my results are much more consistent than when using softened butter.) Here are some tricks for browning the butter<\/a>–definitely be careful when it starts to darken. It takes a while to get from clear to amber, but it goes from amber to burnt very quickly.<\/p>\n
