I’d like to introduce you all to the fabulous Veronica Wolff, whose new YA novel, ISLE OF NIGHT, the first book in her new Watchers series, drops Tuesday, September 6. Isle of Night (The Watchers #1)Here’s the book blurb:

I had a chance to read ISLE OF NIGHT during the editing process, and I LOVED it, so I invited her to drop by and tell everyone else about it. 😉 So without further ado, here’s Veronica!

People have asked me, do we really need yet another vampire series on the shelves? I like to answer the question with another question: Don’t we always need another kick-ass girl series?!

Isle of Night is told from the point of view of Annelise Drew, a smart seventeen-year old from an abusive home who lacks the safety net of money and family. She’s out of options when a sexy stranger approaches her in a parking lot and offers her a lift. Against her better judgment, she goes along for the ride.

That sexy stranger is Ronan, a tracer who works for a coven of ancient vampires. He whisks her to the Isle of Night, where the vampires recruit outcasts like her to become Watchers, an elite group of young women acting as agents, emissaries, and sometimes assassins. The training is rigorous, but Annelise works hard to succeed…because on the Isle of Night, failure means death.

So, yeah, maybe there is room for one more vampire book, because I like to think there’s always room for a brave, sassy girl who learns to live off her strength and smarts.

Oh, and if people don’t like that answer, I have a second reply. Does the world really need more vampire books? I tend to think…HELLZ YEAH!

  • Oh, I definitely think there’s always room for more vampire series. Especially if they are as good as this sounds like it will be. I’ll def be adding it to my TBR list.

  • Ok, I am always willing to take a chance on an author I haven’t read yet. Just added it to my nook book collection! Hopefully I can get to read it soon since I have 10 other books in the cue!

  • I just finished reading Isle of Night and I very much enjoyed it! Thanks for the recommendation CN. And thanks for the good read VW. I look forward to the off island excursion. Will she, won’t she….hmmmm…. can she? I am guessing that the blood is necessary for her now. 😉 And if not the blood, then perhaps a certain annoyingly cryptic, and caring Tracer has become necessary? VW did a great balance of giving the reader just enough information to figure out things as we go, and yet not enough information to keep us guessing!
