Hello, all! I’m back from my dayjob-related absence. I didn’t have much in the way of internet access while I was away, but the lovely ladies and gents over at the Chicagoland Vampires Forum have been chatting away about theoretical plot lines to come. If you need a quick Merit (or Catcher…or Morgan…or Jeff) fix, it’s the place to be…
And now, without further ado, here are the details on how you can win a signed ARC of FRIDAY NIGHT BITES. You actually have three–count ’em, three–chances to win one of these lovelies and get a sneak peek at Merit’s latest adventures.
1. Plattsmouth, NE Library Vampire Day: Join me on Saturday, August 8 at the Plattsmouth, Nebraska Public Library for an afternoon of vampire-related fun. Wait–I know what you’re thinking: “I’m nowhere near Plattsmouth, Nebraska (wherever that is!), so what’s the incentive for me to show up?” First of all, the schedule rocks:
11:00-12:00 – Chloe Neill reading, Q&A session, book sale and booksigning
12:00-1:00 – Free pizza and vampire trivia game. With PRIZES! (hint hint)
1:00-3:00 – Free screening of Twilight.
Second, Saturday will be your chance to ask me all those deets you’ve been mulling over since April.
Third, I’ll make my confession–I haven’t had a chance to read Twilight yet (I know, I know, but I have a good reason: I try not to read vampire books since I’m writing vampires books.) That means the movie will be completely new to me, and my first opportunity to decide whether I’m joining Team Jacob or Team Edward. Are these guys all they’re cracked up to be? Watch and see . . .

This is not an easy question! I was going to say Merit but it's obvious , so i'm going with a secondary character: Jeff! I just love this character, he's funny and his attempts to flirt are always hilarious. I really really wonder what he turns into.
So I cant tell you who my favorite character is yet because I havent read it yet but I am really excited yet.

Hey Chloe! I REALLY wish I could go to the book signing, but as I said when it was first announced I live in St. Louis, MO and it's too far of a trip for the weekend unfortunately. Major bummer! 🙁
But anyway I think my fave character would have to be Morgan. I don't know why exactly, there is just something about him. Truthfully I haven't read the book since the beginning of the year when it came out and I've read many books since then. I am definitely going to re-read it before October though! But I do remember I just liked Morgan for some reason and his relationship with Merit.
Merit is my favourite character; she's funny, sarcastic, and strong. I love how you've written a strong female heroine who isn't whiny or apathetic or annoyingly arrogant.

My favorite character? I liked them all, but the reason I fell in love with this book is definitely Merit. She is beautiful and comes from privileged background, but the depth of her character is in no way hindered by the superficial stuff. What initially drew me to her, was the fact that she is comfortable in her own skin. She doesn't strive to be something she is not just to please her ridiculous parents and not many people have the strength to go against their upbringing and find their own path in life. She is geeky smart, snarky, honest, loyal, somewhat righteous and may be a little naive – what's not to love!
My second most favorite character is definitely Grandpa Chuck. I liked the way he reacted to Merti's transformation, making her feel both loved and accepted, which is something her parents failed to do. And the fact that he is the head of a kick-butt supernatural organization is icing on the cake!
I also love Merit. She is the best heroine of all heroines.

My favorite character is Morgan. He seems very grounded and in touch with himself. Merit also seems to have much in common with him and connects on a very real level. Go Morgan!

Without a doubt, Mallory. I love the blue hair and I relate to her on a professional level with the whole creative services field and her eccentricity is infectious throughout the books. The fact that she and Merit are totally opposites, until, of course, Merit's life is turned upside down with the whole, you know, becoming a vampire and the first Sentinel for Cadagon house in what, a century? It isn't until Merit is made a vampire that she actually comes out of her shell and realizes her true self, away from her father and away from her name. Where she finally makes her mark as a Merit, away from her family, and gets some of that inner confidence that Mallory already has. Mallory is, in one word, fabulous. She's that kind of girl that other girls want to be. The one who isn't afraid of taking risks, isn't afraid to not have a job lined up before quitting the current job – she is carefree and determined, happy and a bit cynical, and pretends to be irritated by Catcher when she very, very clearly is not. She's the life of the party…hell she IS the party. And what makes she and Merit such good friends is the balance. They say opposites attract, and while sure, they both love dancing and having a good time, they are opposites yet so perfectly matches as best friends it's insane. If you need further proof of that, well it's not just a coincidence that Merit would pick a sorceress (and a powerful one at that) as a BFF 🙂 I love Mallory, I think she adds so much color to the stories and I really think we have only seen part of what we will see from her character as she develops her powers 🙂
Hello! I will actually be at the Plattsmouth Library signing. They had fliers up in the library and that actually prompted me to go back in and borrow SGB. I was pleasantly surprised to find it was not a YA book, and there were striking similarities to a book I am currently working on! (I do read in my genre when I am attempting a novel… I'm thinking that may not be such a good idea anymore! I'm going to have to change some details in my work now, lest people think I'm a big fat copy cat!)
Eh- great minds think alike. Must be.
But I babble… My favorite charecter would have to be Morgan- because he is mysterious. He is the more like-able of the two, but I think it is clever of you to have minimal scenes with him. It leaves you wriggle room to decide if he is a good guy or a bad boy. I don't even know how I'd like to see it play out!

I've got to say Merit is my favorite character. I love how even her inner thoughts are snarky yet perceptive. of course, I almost went with her grandpa. I love that he sneaked her oreos when she was being rebellious and the fact that he seems willing to give everyone a fair shake.

Oh gosh our favorite character? Who to choose? I think Ethan.
He is an interesting character. At first glance, he's typically arrogant. But having been around all these years, you wonder what happened during those to shape who he is today (like living through the Second Clearing). There definitely should be some skeletons in his closet. And I'm itching to learn about his origin story.
It's also entertaining seeing him try to resist the magnetism between him and Merit. I'm a sucker for characters like him and the situations where characters like Merit can knock him off kilter.
Please sign me in! I can't tell you which caracter is my favorite cause I haven't read the book yet. it's on my TBR pile tho!
After all the reviews I've I think Ethan is my kind of boy tho. I like arogant guys with sexual tension haha!

For my favorite character, I was torn between Merit and Ethan.
If I have to pick one, I will have to say Ethan, there is just something about his character. An older vampire, set in his ways, reading the way he responds to things that confuse, surprise or shock him is interesting. I'm looking forward to his character development over the next few books and of course to much more interaction between him and Merit.

My favorite character would have to be Ethan. I love the chemistry whenever he and Merit are in the same room. He is dreamy and mysterious all at the same time. Chapters seem lonely without him.
I love Merit. She's tough, and even though she's not happy about how her life changed she's loyal. And I love how she doesn't just fall right into Ethan's arrogant arms. And she gets a katana! How freakin' cool is that! Love it!

I have two favorite characters Ethan and Mallory. But if I had to pick one, Mallory. She is smart, sexy and funny. She always makes me laugh and I just love her blue hair. Also she gets Catcher which is a HUGE plus. (No pun intended)

As a former English grad student, I, of course, gravitate towards Merit. Love that she's a 180 from the 'conventional' heroine and doesn't suffer fools gladly (or at all). I am excited to see what's next for Merit. Wonder if we'll ever learn her first name?

That is a tough question! This is one book where I loved so many characters. It's just one of the reasons I'm looking forward to the release of Friday Night Bites.
The easiest character to talk about would be Merit. I like here level headed thinking, her sarcastic remarks and how she stands her ground. She is a character that is easy to relate for me, I can see the logic in her thinking.
I posted a review about Some Girls Bite and gave a heads up to when Friday Night Bites releases. Plus I have the Friday Night Bites book cover with a link to your site on my sidebar.
i think my favorite character would have to be Merit's grandpa because he accepts Merit for who she is and loves her unconditionally. He was a fatherly figure for her when she was growing up and is someone she is able to go to for help and advice. I believe that having someone like this in one's life makes all the difference in the world and who we become later in life. =]

I just finished reading Some Girls Bite. My favorite character is Merit she tough and confident and not dazzled by the vamp world. My second favorite would be Mallory shes just so funny.
It's so hard to choose, because well developed, intriguing characters is part of what makes this book so awesome, but I'm going to say Morgan. I love his sense of fun, combined with gravitas, and his wee bit of passion.
Hmmm, my favorite character is Mallory. We don't know much about Mallory's biological family but we do know that Merit is "her family".
Her strong allegiance to Merit is apparent the first night Merit's vampire life begins. Her support of Merit is unwavering. She's someone that has always has Merit's "back" in any situation. I also like Mallory's bluntness and how very few things seem to phase or scare her. Include her sense of humor, Mallory is the best friend we all hope to have or aspire to be.
My favorite of course would be Merit. I love how she has adapted to her new life. My second would be Luc aka Cowboy Pete. I like the way he watches out for Merit. He seems to appreciate her talents and her vulnerabilities. He is the one who takes care of her at the end of SGB.
My favorite would be Morgan because he sounds like a fun guy. Eating food and watching sportscenter together sounds like an ideal date for me. Also why is all the book signings in Nebraska? Please come to Denver!
