Fifty Thousand!!!!

Finally, I’ve hit 50,000 words.

Theoretically, that means the manuscript for HEXBOUND is on its downhill slide (word count-wise, not quality-wise), but that doesn’t mean the last 20,000 (or 28.6%) will be easy. HEXBOUND has been fighting me for the entire write. I absolutely love the book, and there are scenes that still surprise me, but it’s been a one-word-at-a-time struggle to get this bad girl on paper.
And for those of you who’ve asked–yes, I get writer’s block. For me, it’s akin to a profound lack of concentration, where I’m too distracted, too tired, or too short on time to really step *into* the scene. As I discussed with a colleague a couple of days ago, it’s also one of the downsides of having to constantly shift tasks — by the time you really get some steam, it’s time to move on to some other crisis.
But, the words are still coming, and the book is scheduled to be on time, so I have absolutely nothing to complain about. But that’s what blogs are for, right?? 😉

  • Yes, that is what blogs are for and it's cheaper than therapy. *grins*

  • Congrats on your progress. Keep it up! I'm in the midst of needing to do some studying/planning and your blog entry has both inspired and spurred me onward. 🙂
