For those of you who enjoy historical romance, I’ve read three lately that I really, really enjoyed, and wanted to share:
THE SPYMASTER’S LADY, by Joanna Bourne. This is without a doubt one of the best romance books that I’ve ever read. (It’s going onto my keeper shelf.) The conflict was great, the world-building (Napoleonic Europe) was fantastic, and the characters were so real. And the writing? Absolutely stellar. I can’t recommend this enough.- THE ANATOMIST’S WIFE, by Anna Lee Huber. This one’s actually historic crime rather than romance per se, but there’s plenty of tension between the male and female leads. The eponymous wife, Lady Darby, helps solve a crime at a Scottish estate.
- THE TURNCOAT, by Donna Thorland. Another spy thriller and the first in a series, this book had plenty of action and fantastic historic details. Really, really enjoyed it.
I’m looking forward to reading the next books in all three series.
