1. DRINK DEEP is in editing, and will be released November 1, 2011. Here’s the synopsis:
Clouds are brewing over Cadogan House, and recently turned vampire Merit can’t tell if this is the darkness before the dawn or the calm before the storm. With the city iself in turmoil over paranormals and the state threatening to pass a paranormal registration act, times haven’t been this precarious for vampires since they came out of the closet. If only they could lay low for a bit, and let the mortals calm down.
That’s when the waters of Lake Michigan suddenly turn pitch black-and things really start getting ugly.
Chicago’s mayor insists it’s nothing to worry about, but Merit knows only the darkest magic could have woven a spell powerful enough to change the very fabric of nature. She’ll have to turn to friends old and new to find out who’s behind this, and stop them before it’s too late for vampires and humans alike.
2. MORE HUGS! to everyone who needs them. I also feel like you need a chaser. Of Schnauzer puppies.
3. Merit and Mallory approve therapeutic application of Chunky Monkey, or your favorite flavor of ice cream. (Skipping the spoon and eating straight from the carton also helps.) Any version of this trifle also works. I’m currently making one.
4. Reader Blake commented that “with great power comes great responsibility.” Believe me, that is well noted.
5. Reader Rick, there was no secret guy code violation. You’re hanging out with dozens of cool chicks and talking about scifi. I see no code violation in that. 😉
6. International readers, the May 3 release date for HB was for Penguin’s publication of the book in the US. Â Other countries have their own publishers who set their own release schedules (I think, for example, the UK release of HB is May 12.)
7. To those of you who’ve discussed your emotional involvement with the characters, there is no better tribute to Merit, Mallory, and the rest of the CV world that you feel that way. We all thank you.
I was about three fourths the way through Hard Bitten and I heard a comment about the ending, so I peeked to the back. I am HEARTBROKEN! I had to put the book down on my night table and I can’t even finish it right now. It’s going to have to stay there till my heart recovers enough to read the rest of it.!
Feel Your Pain… I was also HEARTBROKEN!! I just could not .. still can’t think about HIM.. I Just want 2 cry thinking. NOVEMBER…. WTF..
Trying to woo us with a cute, adorable puppy…not cool. ; )
I prefer Ben and Jerry’s chocolate fudge brownie myself. And our supply is GONE!
I have to say I am still feeling sad and miserable. Books for me are a release and refuge I can’t even reread the other CVS books as I normally would do because it’s too heart wrenching to think about what’s coming. The author Graham Greene every writer must have a splinter of ice in his heart. I don’t know how else you could do this to us Chloe without one.
I will have you know that even after a cold stone chocolate oreo shake – of epic proportions – about 4 reese’s peanut butter cups and a blow pop (I like bubble gum), I still didn’t feel better. It took reading 3 other books after HB to make me feel somewhat better. 😉
