The fantabulous Ilona Andrews apparently gets some pretty weird requests for book cover quotes. And at least one request to her addressed the request to me. (!!) Proofread fail!
Giving the book a cover quote means endorsing it with our name. It’s similar to tapping a reader on the shoulder and saying, “Hey, I liked this. You like my books, you should give this a try.” I don’t usually do this lightly. I really have to like the book.
But sometimes I don’t even read the book in question before declining to quote. The deadlines are kind of killing us right now and have been for the past year, so sometimes I don’t have time, but occasionally it’s not the lack of time that’s the culprit, it’s the way the request is phrased.
I offered to let her use my name in the blurb if she’d finish out the Chicagoland Vampires, series, too, so I could just chillax. But she didn’t bite. 😉
I’m confused? Did someone send her a request to read and endorse your book and make it look like it was you who made that request?
No, I think they asked her for a quote, but called her “Chloe Neill” in the process. 🙂

I read that blog (ok I stalk their blog…) and had a good laugh… Besides, if you let Ilona finish out the Chicagoland stories, we wouldn’t see Curran and Kate, or maybe Kate would communicate with Ethan, and that would piss off Curran and Merit… It’d be a mess!
Best if you just do it all yourself. As fast as you can too…. LOL
