A few weeks after I hit the road for Lincoln for the June 13 booksigning (subtle plug, no?), I’ll be heading with my Boy to . . .
CHICAGO!
Yes, it’s research time again. That means a short, fun-filled road trip to the Windy City, where we’ll watch the Cubbies play, explore the Art Institute, check out the neighborhood of Ukrainian Village (where parts of CV3 take place), and enjoy some ridiculously fabulous vodka cream pasta and cupcakes.
I’m also hoping to check out some Windy City boutiques. Gathering Springs blazed a trail during her recent road trip, and I also recently discovered Boutiqueville, a guide to Chicago fashion retailers, and Renegade Crafters, who have a boutique in Wicker Park (which is, of course, Merit’s home ‘hood).
Do you have any suggestion of places I *must* visit? I’m particularly looking for off-the-beaten-path stops, especially unique stores involving paper and handmade goodness (which, of course, I love).
Welcome to chicago
