First, good writing to susiej, this month’s featured WIP Thursday commenter. Here’s what Susie’s working on:
I’m polishing my 300k epic fantasy featuring a love triangle between Edan,
leader of a powerful fae clan, Rose (halfbood) and Jonathon, the adorable boy
next door whose always appreciated and defended Rose’s distinctly different
nature from those who’d like her lynched.
I have to say, I’m completely in awe of the word count. Good luck, Susie!
Second, I’ve blogged today over at Write What You See on “paper,” including a list of some of my favorite writing notebooks. If you’re looking for a new way to get motivated to write out that newest manuscript or outline (in longhand, natch), check it out!
Third and finally, for this week’s Friday Five, I thought I’d feature items currently on my nightstand (or coffee table, kitchen island, etc.) waiting to be read:
1. We Need to Talk About Kevin, Lionel Shriver. This is my book club’s book-of-the-month. Since we’re meeting in a week, I really need to get started. 🙂
2. Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, Susanna Clarke. This is my second attempt to get through this tome of magic, but the footnotes alone are keeping me going. Ms. Clarke is an amazing craftswoman of worlds.
3. Pillars of the Earth, Ken Follett. This is on my nightstand, the book I try to grab a few pages of each night before bed.
4. Acheron, Sherrilyn Kenyon. What girl doesn’t need a good Dark-Hunter?
5. Fool, Christopher Moore. I’m a huge fan, but haven’t been able to sink into this one.
That’s it for me. Have a great weekend!!
