Good morning, all! A handful of things on the agenda today!

Second, it was a slow WIP Thursday yesterday, but thanks to Jessica, who dropped by to tell us about her Work In Progress:
Still working on same “hope to be a novel someday soon”–which is coming along
more nicely as I continue to read more and see how how other authors write–with
tag lines, descriptions, etc. Making the thoughts more realistic as well as the
dialogue. Freshening up the vocab, things like that.Also expanding on my hunt
for a critique group or partner. My friend offered and I may take her up on it
for a starting point. Although I still need to get my writing shaped up a bit
more and get it to a more conclusive conclusion!
Third, an article at Wired today on How Science Fiction Writers Can Help, or Hurt, Homeland Security. As you can see, author Bruce Schneier isn’t thrilled with the proposition.
And now for The Friday Five! I was incredibly lucky to have an opportunity to see Coldplay, Snow Patrol and the Howling Bells in concert last week. They were fabulous, and very inspiring.So this week, I’m doing a musical Friday Five!
> Top Five (Currently) Writing-Inspirational Performers
1. Howling Bells: I’d never heard of this Australian band before the performance, but they were fabulous. Incredibly unique sound, incredibly haunting music. Check ’em out.
2. Snow Patrol: I was blown away by Snow Patrol’s performance. Their songs are short stories, and the live versions of their music are bursting with energy, life, despair, love, and loss. If you haven’t listened to any of their live tracks, I’d recommend “Chocolate” and “Run” for starters. Classics that are only enhanced by the live performance.
3. Muse: My all-time favorite band, and a group whose songs are operatic in their intensity. Check out “Apocalypse Please” if you need an intro while you’re composing your new urban fantasy.
4. I think Kim Harrison mentioned it in one of the early Rachel books, but Rob Zombie’s Living Dead Girl is one of my all-time fave paranormal songs.
5. Tied at five, I’ll take Imogen Heap for a range of songs, from blustery to giddy to mournful. Strange and fantastic. Check out “Hide and Seek.”

You know, he might have something there. When I first let my SO read Friday Night Bites, his initial comment was: "Well, there should be more fighting."
As you might imagine, I was not exactly thrilled with that response. 😀
So now we have a system–he can offer whatever constructive criticism he'd like mid-edit, but he must preface with: "I really liked this . . ." 🙂
