While I’m editing HOUSE RULES and outlining BITING BAD (CV8, Aug. 2013), I’m also:

1. Reading tons of nonfiction, including THE LOST CITY OF Z by David Grann and RIVER OF DOUBT by Candace Millard. I am definitely on an Amazon River exploration kick!
2. Training for my first run, the Chicago Hot Chocolate 5K in November with the lovely and talented Christina Henry.
3. Watching reruns of 30Rock and anxiously awaiting the final season. LOVE Tina Fey! (Photo credit: Unknown. Let me know if it’s yours!)
4. Watching Project Runway, my favorite treadmill activity. I don’t yet see a clear winner. Do you?
5. Making Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies, which are now my favorite recipe, although Hubs prefers something closer to these. (Either way, I’m definitely a fan of recipes that call for melting the butter first; I find my results are much more consistent than when using softened butter.) Here are some tricks for browning the butter–definitely be careful when it starts to darken. It takes a while to get from clear to amber, but it goes from amber to burnt very quickly.
Yeah, I don’t see a clear winner for Project Runway either. One moment someone is pulling ahead, and the next, they’re at the bottom-bottom. Huh, I really need to try those cookies. 🙂
